Kathy L Murphy

My name is Kathy L. Murphy and I am the author of "The Pulpwood Queens', Tiara Wearing Guide to Life". This is my memoir/ autobiography on my story of how books saved me and why I am on a mission to share the power of the story and of creating a community of readers. In 2000, I opened the only hair salon/bookstore, Beauty and the Book. Shortly after opening I created and founded The Pulpwood Queens and Timber Guys NOW International Book Clubs, the largest "meeting and discussing" book club in the world. Though Beauty and the Book kibg sebse ckised, my book club has continued to grow and thrive. Our motto is "where tiaras are mandatory and reading our good books is the only rule!" Our sole mission is to promote the arts, authors, books, films, literacy, and reading. I am also an artist as I went back to college and graduated from The University of Texas in Tyler with my B.F.A. in Art and minor in Art History. Currently, I am principally painting in Alcohol Ink with other mixed media and a designer for www.ShopVida.com/collections/thepulpwoodqueen. Everything that is important in the world to me all stems from being a life-long reader and learner and from all the stories and imaginations of a lifetime of reading books. I am also currently working on my next book, "The Pulpwood Queen Goes Back to School", the continuing story and guide of my being a life-long learner and figuratively and quite literally going back to school.
