Michele Hoffnung

Michele Hoffnung, Ph.D. is Professor Emerita of Psychology at Quinnipiac University, where she developed the women’s studies program and directed it for its first two decades. Her published work includes ROLES WOMEN PLAY: READINGS TOWARD WOMEN'S LIBERATION; WHAT'S A MOTHER TO DO?; several editions of the co-authored textbook LIFESPAN DEVELOPMENT; and numerous articles about women’s roles, women’s choices, motherhood, and grandmotherhood. She has been honored with the Pioneer Award and the Society for the Psychology of Women Heritage Award, from the American Psychological Association for her contributions to feminist psychology, and was recently inducted to the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College Society of Excellence. She and her husband are parents of three adult children and grandparents to each of their two children. Although a grandmother for 17 years, she learned a great deal from talking with the grandparents who shared their advice, insights and experiences for BEING GRANDMA AND GRANDPA.
