I have come to love the Word of God through a long and circuitous journey. Starting out with my baptism as a baby in a Congregational Church, I was raised under the auspices of the American Lutheran Church. Liberal in orientation to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I found myself wanting for answers to the most fundamental questions. A pastor told me not to worry about salvation because I was a “good kid.” This did not satisfy a thirsty soul under a general cloud of conviction of the Holy Spirit. Through His leading, I believe now that I found my way to a clear proclamation of the Gospel at an evangelistic outreach at the local North American Baptist Church. Going by the name, God’s Volunteers, through testimony and song, a young woman named Diane Otto proclaimed to my listening. Ears and open heart what I needed to do to be saved. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Acts 16:31

The Word became my go-to from that day on. From it I gained not only a guarantee of my position in Christ, but also a true assurance that God is real. I had peace with God and I knew it in the depths of my being.

After I was married, my husband Gary and I were introduced to a young couple (themselves discipled by the Plymouth Brethren) who had a unique discipleship ministry. After spending four years in the Gospel of John, which opened our minds and hearts to the significance Old Testament, I began to seek God for an answer about what to do with my life. It seemed I was led to a ministry of my own. Along with the fervent desire that others hear and believe what I had discovered in the Bible, I devoted my whole life to the study of the Scriptures and ommunicating the truth to those I came in contact with.

Augmenting this commitment to ”telling the truth,” I spent fifteen months under Larry Crabb and received an MA in Biblical counseling, I am in the process of compiling daily devotional writings from the last 5-6 years into a format I hope will ignite a love for the Word in its readers.

I have published John—God in the Flesh, Acts,--The Acts of the Holy Spirit, Romans—The Roman Road, Galatians—Walking Papers, Hebrews—The Final Word, and one on key people from the Old Testament—A Cloud of Witnesses. These are available from Amazon. at a reasonable price. Within in the next month or two I will release Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I Corinthians, I Thessalonians, I and II Peter, and I John.

My goal is to make these devotionals available to as many people as possible. I want to encourage individual interaction with the Biblical text using the 5 R format. Each chapter of the various books of the New testament is met with this simple tool derived from Psalm 119:11-16 which answers the rhetorical question, ‘’How Can a Young Man Keep His Way Pure?”

The answer? By living according to your Word!

The 5 Rs are as follows:

1. Read to Receive

2. Recite to Recall

3. Remember to Remind

4. Ruminate to Reflect

5. Repurpose to Relate

These 5 categories are briefly explained in the introduction to each volume.

I am also in the final stages of completing my second novel in the Three-part series called “The Redemption Chronicles.” Written about roughly the same time period, that of approximately 1020BC-900BC, each book carries a different perspective of historic and important events surrounding the rise and fall of the United Kingdom of Israel.

1. Volume 1: Thy Kingdom Come

2. Volume 2: Lead Us Not Into Temptation

3. Volume 3: Deliver Us From Evil

Volume 1 is staged as David’s reign draws to a close and the nation is on the brink of entering the height of glory. As plans for building the Temple in Jerusalem are underway, it is essentially the reflections, musings and the interactions of the God of Israel with David and Solomon.

Volume 2 is nearing completion (possibly by the end of October) and is written from the perspective of one who sees the devastating effects of the fall on Israel and their relationship with God. It is Israel’s demand for an earthly monarchy to rule them so they could be like other nations that is responsible for their demise. Hiram, king of Tyre is the principal antagonist as he rules over the Phoenician city-states of Tyre and Sidon whose rise to power during this era rivals that of the nation Israel. His influence on King Solomon and his subsequent downward spiral into idolatry is the central theme of the book.

Volume 3 (release to be announced sometime in the fall of 2024) will contain the story as told through the lens of the Levitical priesthood. This perspective highlights the central role of a blood sacrifice to provide atonement for sin and to make relationship with a holy God possible. As time goes on, the sacrificial system proves to be a temporary solution and sets the stage for the future of Israel. The focus shifts from the king, the priest, to the prophet and the centrality of the prophetic office to Provide the way forward towards the glorious day when the unconditional and everlasting promise will be fulfilled.
