George Gilliam

George Gilliam was born 1953 in Plainfield NJ , and grew up in Westfield NJ. He served 22 years in U.S.Air force , and is Vietnam -era Veteran. As fight medic, he airlifted 12 Marines home after the Beirut Bombing, served in Korea, Operations Just Cause and Operation Desert Storm. After his military career, he served as student government president of Georgia Perimeter College Clarkston Georgia Campus. He was awarded member of the National Dean's List , All American Academic Team, and Phi Theta Kappa. He published rewrite of sonnet written by William Shakespeare. He served as an intern for former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue, and as intern for Georgia State Representative Dr. Bob Holmes. who served as the Director of think tank called, The Southern Center for the Study of Public Policy, and W.E.B. Dubois Institute. His first book, "His Bat Is His Calling Card," has received exemplary reviews from Pacific Book Review, and U.S. Review. He felt compelled in his book to share his son's baseball journey from the Little Leagues to the NY Yankees Organization , and how he used skills taught to him in military like discipline, physical fitness, as well as, techniques learned from reading books and magazines about great players, like his cousin MLB player James William "Junior" Gilliam who played with MLB Legend Jackie Robinson to help his son Isiah Gilliam excel both on and off the baseball field.
