Kerry C Irons

Kerry C. Irons was born in New Madrid MO. The location renowned for the largest earth quake to ever hit east of the Mississippi River, Jan. 23rd 1812. It rang church bells 1300 miles away in the city of Boston. It also shook the White House startling the President. Kerry grew up on a farm located a few miles north of the city. At the age of 15 Kerry's family moved north to Decatur IL., where he spent his adolescent years. At the age of 18 Kerry volunteered for the military services during the Vietnam war. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years. He was stationed behind the iron curtain in West Berlin, East Germany for 2 of those years. Kerry's passion for words and writing developed during his early childhood when he suffered from a speech impediment for a number of years. Unable to speak normally Kerry would think of the words that he wished he could say without being laughed at for trying to say them, thus began his passion for words and writing. In later years Kerry overcame his speech impediment by his will and determination to speak and say gracefully the words that were in his heart. Today Kerry is a very accomplished speaker and writer, in part, due to the speech impediment that he learned to overcome.
