Nancy Koziol

Nancy Koziol is a lover of all sorts of fermented drinks. The closer it’s brewed to home, the better, and that includes homebrews.

Nancy is Wine and Spirits Education Trust Certified in Wine & Spirits Level 2. She passed the intensive with merit. She is awaiting the results from her Certified Sherry Wine Specialist exam. In addition to this formal education, she travels various wine-producing regions touring, tasting, and learning through experience. Nancy is interested in emerging regions (Chinese and Indian wine anyone?), has a particular interest in how climate change affects the wine world, and is fascinated by the politics of wine. She will enthusiastically bend your ear about her favorite wine tours and tell anyone willing to listen that riding a bike through wine country is the best thing you can do for your soul. While particularly fond of South American reds and anything from Bordeaux, her longtime favorite wine is Brooklyn Oenology’s 2012 Orange Gewürztraminer. She is Director of Content writer for a small but fierce digital marketing firm.

Nancy lives in downtown Bennington, Vermont with her husband, Kris, a dog, a cat, and a lot of wine. She leads weekly tastings in her town - a small meetup that exploded quickly. When she’s not writing she’s hiking or traveling with Kris. They particularly enjoy active vacations and road trips to see their favorite band, My Morning Jacket. Find Nancy on Facebook (OethicalOenologist), Instagram (@oethical_oenologist) or her website, The Oethical Oenologist (www.nancykoziol.com).

Her first book explores small-batch homebrewing of mead, herbal wine and cider and is available from Skyhorse Publishing.
