Jack Cowan

Colonel Cowan was born in Wink, Texas and attended schools in El Paso, Midland and Houston Texas. He attended Texas A&M, University of North Carolina, William Carey College, and the Army's Command and General Staff College and has a degree in accounting and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree.

Jack retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. Although he was a member of the Army's elite Special Forces, he also served as Military Security Consultant for the shipment of classified information and material at the Military Traffic Management Command in Washington D.C. While in Washington, he was awarded the Army's "Writer of the Year" award and has been published in several technical and professional magazines.

In civilian life, Jack was National President of the Senior Claim Law Society and has lectured and instructed employees of insurance companies throughout the nation.

Jack is the Executive Director & Founder of the Texas Connection to the American Revolution Association (TCARA), Past President of the San Antonio Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Past Vice Chairman of Alamo Area Council of Governments- Alamo Corridor, Past State President of the Huguenot Society, Past Governor of the San Antonio Chapter of the Granaderos de Galvez, Lt Governor of the Jamestown Society, and is a member of several historical and genealogical societies including the Casa de Espana, Los Bexarenos, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sons of the War of 1812,and The Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia He is also a member of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem a/k/a Knights Templer.

He is a research historian and has given talks to the SAR, the DAR, the SRT, numerous other historical and genealogical societies and is a regular guest speaker at several Texas schools and Universities including the University of Texas at San Antonio and Texas A&M and is the recipient of the Daughters of the War of 1812 National History Award and numerous other awards and certificates of excellence.
