Kenneth James McGrath was born in Evanston, Illinois in 1952. He began working in Land Surveying in 1973. For twelve years in Illinois, he was doing a lot and block-type surveys, topography, lake hydrography and ALTA surveys. In Arizona, from 1984—1989, he was into public and private sector survey work: control traverses and construction layout. Being a Licensed Land Surveyor, he also did a survey work in Southern California in 1989: GPS control on the Santa Fe railroad right of way, deed writing and survey mapping, land acquisition and the preparation of State relinquishment maps for road right of way.

McGrath is a man who has a variety of interests: science, history, math, art, philosophy, and language. And a substantial few of them that he is pretty deep into making him earn the title Master Mason (Aztlan Lodge No. 1, Prescott AZ), Go player (2nd Dan) and chess player. He is also a student of the Lemurian Fellowship.
