Lo Dagerman

Being the daughter of STIG DAGERMAN, a Swedish writer of mythic proportions and the father I never knew, I made sure to stay away from writing. And I've certainly done many other things from public transport planning to the counseling of children to filmmaking. But here I've actually written a book. Co-written to be exact. The exchange between Nancy Pick and myself provided exactly the encouragement I needed to get started. But it was the fascinating subject matter that drove the process: the story about Stig and Etta simply needed to be told, and we were the ones best placed to tell it.

Stig's life and work has proven the source of many compelling stories, and I've spent the last ten years or so bringing them to the public through various media: New translations and books ("Wedding Worries", 2018); events with American writers such Alice McDermott and Siri Hustvedt; The August Strindberg Repertory Theatre's staging of "Marty's Shadow" 2017; multiple short films such as "Our Need for Consolation" with Stellan Skarsgård as narrator (youtube). I'm currently in postproduction of a documentary titled "The Making of a Man" inspired by Stig's play "Marty's Shadow".
