John Corbally embarked upon an academic career in his thirties, after selling logistics services in the corporate world for ten years and crushing his fingers on construction sites for five. Following a B.A. in European History and an M.A. in World History from San Francisco State University, he completed a PhD at UC Davis within four years. In "Shades of Difference: Irish, Caribbean, and South Asian Immigration to the Heart of Empire, 1948-1971," Dr. Corbally compared the experiences of migrants from three diverse corners of empire. He taught history and humanities courses at Stanford for five years, and British, Irish, European, and World History at UC Berkeley, UC Davis and Mills College amongst others. Dr. Corbally teaches World History, Critical Thinking and European History at Diablo Valley College.
