Dr. Murray wrote “College Planning Strategies I Wish Someone Had Told Me: The Ultimate Guide for Scholars and Parents” to help youth in her community understand how to get to college. She developed ten proven strategies to show how to send youth to college and find ways to pay for it. This book is unlike any other college planning book on the market because it was developed by a lifelong scholar who offers college planning strategies and useful templates that can be customized and streamlined so you don’t have to go on a scavenger hunt. This book offers useful resource to those who are (1) unclear on how to start, (2) unsure about how to finish the college planning process and (3) includes details on the NCAA eligibility guidelines for the student-athletes.
As a high school senior, Dr. Murray struggled to plan for college and to find funding. With guidance and support, she was accepted into Hampton University, the college of her choice, and was able to get scholarships that covered all four years of college. Since then, she remained committed to reaching back to help other scholars achieve academic excellence by sharing the college planning strategies that she wished someone had told her.
Dr. Murray was inspired to assist middle and high school scholars and parents close the educational opportunity gap. Over the past 20 years, she successfully helped numerous students get accepted into college and assisted with identifying scholarships to offset the cost of tuition. Dr. Murray is a single mother with two sons in high school, a senior and a sophomore, who play football and basketball. She is following these proven strategies as her sons prepare for college and navigate the NCAA eligibility process.
