Rex Knowland takes us on a journey through his youth in rural Australia and his attendance at University in Sydney. He lived the sex, drugs and rocking lifestyle of the early 1970s. He was a boxer, biker, and footballer. After completing his degree, Rex became addicted to Heroin. He details his travels on the hippie trail through Asia.
Rex describes his rehabilitation with the Salvation Army in 1975, where he got clean. He outlines his journey after rehabilitation. Rex completed his Bachelor in Education and commenced as a High School Teacher. Rex left teaching and moved through a variety of jobs. He joined the NSW Public Service in 1981 and worked through a successful career. Rex spent the last twenty years of his career in senior management roles. He retired in 2013 and now lives in Shellharbour, NSW.
Rex has outlined the key concepts he was taught which enabled him to recover from addiction and live a second life. He has been helped by many people in his journey through recovery. He provides an insight into some of the critical ideas and strategies that have enabled him to succeed, where the majority of his contemporaries failed.
