Chip Joyce

Chip Joyce writes on philosophy, history, law, and science, and on the one question underneath them: how error gets caught and corrected.

He is the author of The Fortress: Recovering the Bill of Rights as a Defense Against Tyranny, How to Think: Conversations from a Father to a Son, and The Correcting Animal: The Case for Humanity — a structure built so power can be checked, a method for one mind, and the case that this capacity is what makes us human.

He came to Ayn Rand at fifteen and later spent two postgraduate years studying Objectivism under Leonard Peikoff, before working his way to Karl Popper and David Deutsch and to the conviction that runs through all three books: that knowledge grows only where a guess is exposed to correction.

He lives in North Carolina.
