Thomas Bird

Thomas Bird is an East Asia-based travel writer and journalist. He holds a Master’s Degree in Chinese Studies from SOAS, University of London and a Cycling Proficiency Certificate from the Ministry of Transport. Bird prints his musings in a host sympathetic publications around the globe including Hong Kong's South China Morning Post. He has contributed to over 20 regional guidebooks and coffee table books, including a number of titles for Rough Guides and Insight Guides. His first book Harmony Express: Travels by Train Through China was published in 2023. He likes craft beer, rail travel and the teachings of Zhuangzi.
