Gerasimos Tsourapas is 125th Anniversairy Chair and Professor of International Relations at the University of Birmingham. His work explores how migration shapes global politics, with a focus on the Middle East and the Global South. He is widely recognized for developing the concept of migration diplomacy—how states use cross-border mobility to achieve foreign policy goals.
He is the author of "The Politics of Migration in Modern Egypt" (Cambridge University Press) and "Migration Diplomacy in the Middle East and North Africa" (Manchester University Press), and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Migration Studies (Oxford University Press). His research has been supported by the British Academy, the European Research Council, and the Council for British Research in the Levant.
