Reginald Spittle

Reg Spittle and his wife Sue raised three sons in the shadow of Yosemite National Park, regularly exploring its many trails. As an educator, he won a Fulbright teaching exchange in Scotland and taught political science in California. He was a journalist at five newspapers. Since leaving the working world, Reg and Sue have walked ten distance trails in seven countries.

Reg's first book, Camino Sunrise: Walking With My Shadows, takes readers on the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage across Spain. His second book, Trippin' Through My 60s, follows his adventures on four European trails: Scotland's West Highland Way, the Alps' Tour du Mont Blanc, Italy's Way of St. Francis, and England's South West Coast Path.

In 2021, Reg and Sue plunged into California's Sierra Nevada wilderness for 30 days when they walked the John Muir Trail. You can go along in his third book, Hoofin' It on the John Muir Trail.

Reg and Sue completed their eighth adventure trek in 2023, a 500-miler, the French Camino, or the Le Puy Route. In 2025, they walked nearly 400 miles on two more, the Via Francigena in Italy and England's Cotswold Way.

Reg sends along his deep appreciation for your interest in his adventures.
