Noel D. Johnson

Noel Johnson is an Associate Professor of Economics at George Mason University and a Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center. In addition to publishing extensively on the relationship between state capacity and religious liberty, he has also written on topics as varied as the impact of disease on city growth and how the Chinese Zodiac superstition became a self-reinforcing belief. Noel earned his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and his BA from Kenyon College. He lives in Bethesda MD with his wife, two children, and dog.
