Arash Abizadeh

Arash Abizadeh is Professor at the Department of Political Science and Associate Member of the Department of Philosophy at McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He received a Master of Philosophy from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar in 1994 and a PhD from Harvard University in 2001. He specializes in contemporary political theory and the history of political philosophy. His research focusses on democratic theory and questions of identity, nationalism, and cosmopolitanism; immigration and border control; the relation between the passions, rhetoric, discourse, practical reason, and politics; and seventeenth- and eighteenth-century philosophy, particularly Hobbes and Rousseau.
