John J. Moriarty

John Moriarty is the Senior Manager of Wildlife for Three Rivers Park District in Plymouth MN. He is responsible for the management and restoration of wildlife habitat on the District’s land, especially the prairies. He has worked on the successful reintroduction of Bullsnakes and Regal Fritillary butterflies in the District’s prairies, initiated a long term (25 year) Blanding’s Turtle monitoring program and is completing a large scale urban turtle community study with Univ. of St. Thomas in one of his parks.

Outside of Three Rivers Park District, John has been involved in habitat conservation and management, especially reptiles and amphibians in Minnesota for 30 years. He is a member of a variety of state and national natural history and wildlife organizations. John started the Minnesota Frog and Toad Surveys in 1995.

John taught a Minnesota Natural History course at Metropolitan State University for many years. He is a regular speaker at civic and conservation groups. More information on John's books and interests can be found at: http://www.johnjmoriarty.com
