Mike Scholey

MIKE SCHOLEY grew up in Nottingham, England, and has spent much of his adult life living, working and travelling overseas.

After five long-term contracts working in Zambia, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Hong Kong and Japan, Mike spent three decades living in the Dartmoor National Park in south-west England and in the Dordogne area of south-west France. From these two places he made many short working visits to Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Greece, Türkiye, Northern Cyprus, Morocco, Ethiopia, Moçambique, the Philippines, the Comoros Islands, Vietnam, China, Ukraine, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, India, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.

His first book, BEADS OF WATER, DROPS OF GOLD (2nd ed., 2019), is about Sir Francis Younghusband and "the Great Game" in Central Asia - specifically in India, Nepal and Bhutan. He has also published four books in the VISA Travel Tales series: VISA FOR A VAGABOND (2018), VISA RENEWED (2019), VISA EXTENDED (2020) and VISA EXPIRED (2021).

His latest book, MITYA (2026), is a spy novel about the war in Ukraine.

Mike now lives in the Perth hills, to the east of the Western Australian capital.
