Paul Gonzales

Paul Alexander Gonzales, MPAS, PA-C (he/him), is a nationally certified physician assistant, PA educator, author, and academic leader. He serves as Dean/Program Director and Associate Professor for the Master of Physician Assistant Program at West Coast University in Texas, where he leads accreditation, curriculum, assessment, faculty development, and initiatives focused on student and graduate success.

With experience spanning didactic and clinical education, Paul has served as a Program Director, Director of Didactic Education, Clinical Coordinator, and principal faculty member across multiple PA programs. His work focuses on strengthening PA education through data-informed program improvement, academic support and remediation, and the development of curricula that prepare students for clinical practice and certification.

Paul earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern Medical Center and has been a certified PA since 2016. His clinical experience includes pediatric neurology, urgent care, infectious disease and HIV medicine, medication-assisted treatment, and care for medically underserved populations.

Paul is co-author of The PA Rotation Exam Review, 2nd Edition and is active in PA education through scholarship, mentorship, professional service, and national presentations. His scholarly interests include student success, PANCE performance, remediation following PANCE failure, and continuous improvement in PA education. He is completing his Doctor of Education in Health Professions Education at A.T. Still University.

Throughout his career, Paul has been committed to making medical education practical, approachable, and clinically relevant. Whether through teaching, program leadership, mentorship, or writing, his goal is to help future PAs develop the knowledge, confidence, and clinical reasoning needed to succeed in training and practice.
