Danny Staple

Danny Staple is a UK-based robot builder, programmer, and author. He has been building robots since 2004, experimenting with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Python, MicroPython, motors, sensors, cameras, and whatever parts he can get his hands on.

He enjoys making machines that move, sense, react, see, talk, and perform autonomous tasks. His robotics writing is practical and hands-on, aimed at helping readers learn by building real robots and understanding how they work.

Danny has been programming since the days of the Commodore 64. His professional background is in DevOps, automation, testing, and cloud infrastructure, while his writing and maker projects focus on robotics and physical computing.

He also mentors young people learning to program robots with MicroPython, and shares his knowledge through books, videos, and mentoring. Danny runs the Orionrobots maker YouTube channel, publishes code on GitHub as dannystaple, and can be found online as orionrobots on Bluesky, Threads, and Facebook.
