Ilya Sapozhnikov

Ilya Sapozhnikov has been born, raised, educated, received his degrees of the M.D. and Ph.D., worked as a physician and a scientist in the field of the preventative cardiology in Moscow, in the former Soviet Union.

His interactions with the patients always included not only the assessment of their physical condition but an attempt to understand the emotional and existential aspects of their personality to be able to help more effectively. This approach has been probably an unconscious expression of his literary, humanistic interests.

In the very beginning of 1991, Ilya Sapozhnikov together with his family has immigrated to the USA.

He has recently retired from his position of the Associate Professor of Instruction at the University of Texas at Dallas where

for twenty years he has taught the medicine-related courses in Biology.

Although during his professional career Ilya Sapozhnikov has authored or coauthored more than the seventy

scientific papers and four books, "The Evenings and The Mornings" is his first book of poetry.

In this book, Ilya Sapozhnikov asks the universal questions related to the human condition.

These questions come silently to everyone in certain periods of life but are asked loudly, with the hope to reach the souls of the readers by the author of this collection of poems.

The second book "The Bridge to the Past and to the Future" has been published in September of 2022.

These poems also deal with the unavoidable questions that life asks everyone of us. Because the poetry is not a paradigm of standards, the vision and the answers of the writer could become a spiritual and an emotional discovery for the readers. They would sense that their own perception of the subject is expressed in the words found by the writer, Ilya Sapozhnikov.
