Dawan Smith

Dawan Smith was born and raised in the rural town of Port Gibson, Mississippi. She discovered that she had a passion for writing at an early age. She has been writing short stories, poems and plays since she was young. She graduated from Port Gibson High School in 2002 in the top 10 of her class with a 3.95 GPA. She is certified in Early Childhood Education and she also graduated from Grantham University with a 3.97 GPA where she received an Associate's Degree in Business Management. She is a 35 year old single mother of two. Most of her time is spent caring for her 11 year old daughter and 15 year old autistic son. Because dealing with Autism is such a stressful job, she has found that writing really keeps her grounded and helps her to stay stress free and calm.
