Doug Calhoun (1973) was born in California at the George Air Force base. After his father finished his career in the United States Air Force, his family return to Louisville Kentucky. Doug's father gave him the passion to draw, which turned into a life long love affair with art. He studied at the University of Louisville where he fell madly in love with his next passion, his future wife. Doug and Deborah were married in April of 1996 and had two children; Hunter and Katlyn. When his children were young, Doug began to write stories to tell them, and the first one was Sawbones. It was about a little monkey who loved to get into trouble.
Years later, the story of Sawbones was found and Doug's wife insisted that he needed to make this sweet little book a reality. Once he started, he could not stop!
Doug lives in Georgetown Kentucky with his wife. And has more Children's books in the works. And when he is not writing or drawing, he loves to take the top off his Jeep and go exploring with his wife.
