Ron Sobel

Ron Sobel has recently written three children's books: The Amazing Adventures of the Whiz Kidz (A Ghost in the Closet), The Adventures of Jake and the Giant Water Tower, and Charlie and the Time Traveling Flip-Phone (in the process of publication). He has two more books in his queue: The Adventures of Jake and the Talking Christmas Tree (not yet published), and The Amazing Adventures of the Whiz Kidz (The Curse of Dumpling Island) (a work in progress). After writing a weekly column for the Annapolis Capital newspaper, Ron retired from Government service after 38 years and moved from Maryland to Virginia. He started writing children's books in his late 70s and now in his 80s is still going strong. He claims that writing children's books has become easier with age since he still clearly remembers the adventures he had growing up. Ron believes that writing is about 40 percent inspiration and 60 percent angst. "But, it's still a joyful pleasure," he says, "as long as the ideas keep coming." Ron lives in the Tidewater area of Virginia with his wife, Faye. In his spare time he enjoys duckpin bowling and playing Texas Hold'em poker.
