Claire E Smith

Claire Smith is a Professor of Archaeology at Flinders University. She was born in Sydney, Australia and plans to be buried in the Aboriginal community of Barunga, Northern Territory. She is the immediate past President of the World Archaeological Congress, a post she held for 10 years. Her books are on Indigenous archaeology, with an emphasis on learning from the voices of Indigenous peoples themselves. She also publishes on globalisation and the practical aspects of 'doing' archaeology. Her magnum opus is the 11 volume 'Encyclopedia of Global Archaeology'.
