Tony Gaines

Anthony Gaines is an American novelist whose storytelling is shaped by a lifetime of movement, service, and close observation of the human condition. He wrote his first short story in second grade after reading The Tale of Peter Rabbit, and by age twelve had developed the daily discipline of writing in a personal journal. This practice sharpened his voice and deepened his curiosity about people and purpose.

Gaines has lived and worked across three continents, experiences that inform the emotional range and authenticity of his fiction. His professional background is as varied as his settings: he has worked as a produce manager and a postal carrier and has served as a nuclear weapons specialist overseas. Each role exposed him to different walks of life, reinforcing his belief that extraordinary stories often live inside ordinary moments.

Now based in Colorado, Gaines brings a grounded realism and philosophical undercurrent to his work. His debut novel, Death of the Teenage After, explores identity, consequence, and the quiet battles people fight within themselves. Through character-driven narratives and reflective themes, Gaines writes about flawed individuals navigating moral crossroads, reminding readers that beneath titles, uniforms, and expectations, we are all human beings on a spiritual journey, searching for what the eyes have yet to see.
