Nigel G. Ward

Nigel Ward is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at El Paso. He previously taught at the University of Tokyo. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983 and received his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991. His research explores prosody across languages and its applications in spoken dialog systems, information retrieval, and language skill acquisition. In 2018-2020 he is Chair of the Speech Prosody Special Interest Group of the International Speech Communication Association.
