Bradley Smith

BRADLEY SMITH first signed up to be a peer tutor in a self-contained classroom as a high school sophomore in Beaverton, Oregon in 2001. He was captivated by the amazing students and staff that he got to work with over multiple semesters, and knew that Special Education was the only profession he wanted to pursue. While a work of fiction, the characters in his debut title, A Special Education in Anxiety, are inspired by people he has known or worked with in different school settings, and various students with special needs whom he has had the privilege to teach over the years.

Bradley Smith's struggle with anxiety began unexpectedly in 2010, and it quickly reshaped his ability to relate to others in the way he once could. Writing became a way for him to process his thoughts, and eventually to share his experiences after A Special Education in Anxiety was published. He appreciates conversations that have ensued as others have shared how anxiety has impacted their own life or that of a loved one.

Bradley currently teaches in a middle school Special Education classroom in the Battle Ground School District. He and his wife live in Vancouver, Washington.
