Steve Greene
My name is Steve Greene. I was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin where I still am today, living with my wife and kids. I hate the cold. I ask myself constantly between the months of November through May, why I still live here. It would be so easy to move somewhere warm. [Sigh] But all our family and friends are here so we will probably stay forever. I left for a short stint in the US Army from 1993 to 1996. It's not for everyone but if you feel drawn to serve your country, my advice is to do it. It was one of the hardest, most rewarding things I have ever done. I met my wife shortly after I got home from the Army and the rest is history. I've been working in Wisconsin since then and enjoying everything I have been blessed with. I've wanted to write since High School but didn't get serious about it until about 10 or 12 years ago.
Writing a book is hard. Another one of the most difficult but rewarding things I've ever done. Not long ago, there was a movie, starring Jennifer Lawrence, called "Mother!" I don't think you can truly grasp the... (possible spoiler alert! Skip to the next paragraph if you are planning on seeing that movie) ...concept of that movie unless you have written or are in the process of writing a novel. It brilliantly captures the difficulty of the artistic process. All metaphorical, of course. But if you haven't written a book before, or created something great strictly from inspiration, you might be left wondering what the heck just happened to 2 hours of your life.
My first novel, Original Blood began in the midst of a completely different story collection that I will eventually be releasing. I began writing a fantasy novel (the magic and dragons type, not the hot and heavy breathing type) but got about 10 chapters in when the idea behind Original Blood popped into my head and just wouldn't leave. I had to switch gears and put the other book aside. If you are an artist, you'll understand. You have to follow the inspiration. But now that Original Blood is available, I can concentrate on the remaining two books in the series. Yes, I am planning two more. After that, I plan on concentrating on my fantasy series which has always been my first love.
