Juliet C. Laycoe

Juliet Laycoe practiced law for over 25 years, dedicating much of her career to guiding clients through complex and emotionally challenging family law matters, including divorce and high-conflict custody disputes. Her latter work emphasized collaborative practice and solutions, mediation and out-of-court settlement whenever possible. Ms. Laycoe was appointed to the bench as a Superior Court Commissioner in November 2024.

Admitted to both the Washington State Bar and the Oregon State Bar, Ms. Laycoe distinguished herself as a leader in the legal community, helping establish the George and Donald Simpson American Inn of Court in southwest Washington. She has been an active volunteer, supporting numerous charitable causes and receiving several civic and community service awards.

Drawing on her extensive professional experience, Ms. Laycoe is the author of two books which offer practical guidance and support for those navigating divorce, namely Divorce Wisdom: Smart Strategies for Anyone Contemplating or Experiencing Divorce, and Bits of Divorce Wisdom. Her insights have been recognized nationally, including in Forbes (“4 Tips for a More Peaceful Divorce,” Robert Pagliarini, February 25, 2019).
