Vix J Cooper

Vix has taught in schools and museums, and is also a Forest School leader. Tolerance and compassion are very important qualities to her. She's fascinated by animal behaviour and is passionate about native wildlife and their habitats and loves inspiring children’s interest in these.

Vix J Cooper hopes her books give pleasure both to children and adults reading to them.

In Who Did This?, illustrated by Izzy Bean, young sheep Esther learns how mothers care for their lambs while sheepdog Alf discovers mischief with spray paints on the farm. Vix has included lots of counting and number recognition opportunities in this story, plus a fun quiz for families or groups.

In Fin and the Red Deer, illustrated by Emily Stanbury, Fin learns to share and make friends with a family of red deer who want to dance on his castle drawbridge to hear their feet tapping the rhythm. Vix has included indoor and outdoor story activity ideas in this book, for families, teachers and Forest School Leaders.

Vix weaves adventure and humour throughout Crazy Pets and Secrets Revealed, aimed at 9-13 year-olds, as Hugo encounters some very crazy pets but also faces tough times when his adorable gran gets older. Vix hopes the story helps readers understand that people react in different ways and that everyone should be valued.

Vix is currently writing a second story featuring Hugo, the main character in Crazy Pets and Secrets Revealed, and is working on another picture book.

Vix's notion of a good time varies from being with family and friends – including woolly and feathered ones – to archaeology and experimental history, such as for farming and traditional crafts, to organic gardening and cinema. She sees her brain as cooked spaghetti as ideas slide around inside her head in no particular order!
