Tom Griffith was born in 1951. The only child of two teachers, he was raised in Riverside, California. After graduating from UC Berkeley in 1973, he joined the Peace Corps and taught English in Niger. He kept teaching for forty years, mostly ESL to immigrants and foreign students. Since 1980 he has lived on the North Shore of Massachusetts.
The Peace Corps gave him two things: a career, and a conviction of sin that led him to a Christian conversion. He's explored issues of faith in such publications as Human Life Review, Times of Restoration and local newspapers. He writes a humor column called "The Cabot Rambler" for the Beverly Citizen.
In 2018 he published a memoir of his Peace Corps years called Anasara: a Peace Corps Journey. Depending on response, he may write another.
He's married with two grown children. For fun, he jogs, sings, and plays showtunes on the piano.
