Matt Avery

Matt Avery is a veteran automotive journalist, photographer, and historian. He is an Executive Producer with Mecum Auctions, overseeing Mecum On the Move operations. His career began as a repair technician for Mercedes-Benz and BMW, next writing for the television show MotorWeek. He then joined the Cars.com editorial team as a senior video producer.

Avery’s career also includes time on the board of the Midwest Automotive Media Association in addition to his long-running and widely read automotive column in the Chicago-based Daily Herald. His other books include COPO Camaro, Chevelle, & Nova: Chevrolet’s Ultimate Muscle Cars which received accolades from the Automotive Heritage Awards.

Avery has been placed on SEMA’s “35 Under 35” List, which recognizes rising young stars in the automotive industry and is a member in SEMA’s Future Leader’s Network.
