Steffen Hou

Steffen Hou is a Danish journalist, documentary filmmaker, and author who has spent more than two decades reporting on crime, justice, extremism, and missing-person cases in the United States and Europe.

His nonfiction work is built on extensive reporting, interviews, court records, and direct access to the people at the center of the stories he tells. His books include Moms of the Missing: Living the Nightmare and The Deprived.

Hou has also written, directed, and produced documentary films that have been distributed internationally. His work focuses particularly on crime and justice, the people affected by them, and what happens long after public attention has moved on.

He lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
