Peter Samu

I have been blessed with an extraordinary life.

Born Jewish in Romania, we moved to Budapest in 1941, mid WWII, the hotbed of Nazi persecution, aided by enthusiastic Hungarian accomplices, lik the Police, the Gendarmes. It may have been the worst place for a Jew to be. I was quickly hidden on a farm where I survived the war together with my mother, and went on to experience other adventures in several European countries, and South America, including Venezuela and a boarding school in Barbados, until arriving in Canada where life promised to be much calmer. There I met my father after many years who'd offered to pay for my university education. But the history of past hurts did not diminuish with my geographic stability.

Throughout life I was driven by my past, living in an uneasy balance between outer calm and inner storm.

Writing has been a constant in my life, since age ten when I was given a "Hermes Baby" typewriter for my birthday that immediately became my most treasured possession. Beside writing, I enjoy photography and listening to classical music. My profession is Radiology.
