Mason St. Peter

The definitive Native Californian, Mason St. Peter grew up in several locales across Southern California, acquiring a love for surfing, skateboarding and the West Coast’s illustrious midcentury heritage in his formative years before decamping to Northern California and attending architecture school at California’s prestigious CCA. There, he became enamored with the Bauhaus movement as well as the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Paul McCobb, Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra, and studied under and worked for collaborative design studio founder and principal Neil Schwartz of Schwartz and Architecture, and Sarah Willmer, founder and principle of her namesake award-winning architecture and interiors firm. After graduating in 2004, Mason worked for various notable firms throughout the Bay Area, including Rossington Architecture, whose principal Phil Rossington would become an influential mentor, empowering him to pursue his own personal projects during his tenure there. In July 2016, with over a decade of experience in residential design, mixed use commercial and retail design to his name—not to mention the wildly successful General Store, which has been recognized by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Monocle, Casa Brutus, Sunset, Dwell, Vogue Japan, Bon Appetit, Refinery 29 and SF Chronicle, and whose identity and physical design he conceptualized with Serena—Mason left to start his own firm. (The cabin he built as the couple’s retreat has also been featured in books such as Cabin Porn and The Hinterland). He is currently working on a variety of high-profile residential projects in the U.S. and abroad.
