James Smith

James “Kane” Smith is a USAF F-16 Combat and Instructor Pilot and author from Whiting Maine. Kane attended the United States Air Force Academy and graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Political Science. He married his high school sweetheart, Ellen, one month later. During their journey in the USAF, Kane and Ellen have lived in Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona, South Korea, Japan, and Australia and have traveled all over the world. In 2010 Kane graduated from American Military University with an MBA and completed the USAF Weapons School (USAF’s version of Top Gun). In 2013 he was selected as an exchange pilot to fly F-18s in the Royal Australian Air Force. Kane and Ellen recently had their first child, Jaxson, and returned to the United States. In 2017 Kane completed a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. Home remains wherever the USAF takes them. He looks forward to future fly fishing and travel adventures during the remainder of his career in the USAF and beyond
