Katherine A. Brown

Katherine A. Brown is the President and CEO of Global Ties U.S., a nonprofit organization focused on powering individuals, communities, and nations to build trust and advance peace and prosperity through international exchange. In this role, she leads the most established citizen diplomacy network in the U.S. to deepen civic engagement in international affairs.

Katherine previously served at the National Security Council at the White House; at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan; at the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the U.S. House of Representatives; and as the Executive Director of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University’s Center for Security Studies, a former Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow, and a French-American Foundation Young Leader. Her book, “Your Country, Our War: The Press and Diplomacy in Afghanistan,” was published by Oxford University Press in 2019. She is She holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Communications from Columbia University.
