AMANDA Phoenix

My Name is Amanda Phoenix. ​I am not one of those people who have been writing stories or short plays since they were able to pick up a pencil (or a crayon for some). I just woke up and decided one day that I would be a writer with no prior experiences or qualifications. The truth is, writing was something that I have always admired but never thought possible for myself. I just never thought that I could do it and I never really knew how to start. But thanks to many wonderfully detailed movie bios, the how to of writing finally hit me. I would start with building a world just like many authors and go from there. It took forever, literally, to get the first couple of pages down. I would write and rewrite the same words, not really knowing what to do. And when I got stuck, which was often, I would read. But eventually it came to me little by little and I was able to scratch a story out of the deep grave of my mind, bring it into the light and breathe life into it. It has been 14 years since I first started writing. I love it just as much now as I did then. The elation of painting a world with mere words, a place where only the imagination can live, is still the most appealing part in the craft of writing for me. The secret to writing is to understand that anyone can do it but not everyone will. You have to be determined to climb the mountain of work that is required to write and not everyone wants to go through the effort required. Sometimes I have to give myself a good stiff kick in the rear to get myself moving. I want to tell you that the pay off is well worth the effort when you can look back at your creation and be able to share it with others. The satisfaction that you feel when you see someone enjoying your stories as much as you have enjoyed creating them is well worth all the work. I can’t wait to produce more work as an author. I look forward to experiencing this brand new journey with you for many years into the future.
