My first novel, The Plus One ("How to Build a Boyfriend from Scratch" in the UK), is a perfect example of my favorite type of story to write and to read: one that's character-oriented, with both heart and humor.

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was seven years old. In my childhood and teenage years, I fell in love with writing poetry (don’t worry, I won’t make you read any), then discovered screenwriting and sketch comedy in college at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Straight out of school, I moved to Los Angeles to work in film and television. You know when bigwigs say “Have your people call my people?” I was the people. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to shift to writing full-time and have been thrilled to enter the fiction world.

I currently live in my home state of North Carolina, but came here by way of Los Angeles, St. Maarten, England, New York City, and Miami. I share my home with my husband and my pug, Lou, who is doubtless snoring very loudly as you read this.
