Writer | Filmmaker | Director of Kerala's first iPhone feature film
Ashik Kumar Satheesh is the writer and director of Munnariv, Kerala's first iPhone feature film, made without a film school, a large crew, or a producer's budget.
That journey from engineer to independent filmmaker is at the centre of his non-fiction work. His book The Indian Indie Film documents the process for aspiring filmmakers across India. His fiction, including the novellas Millennial Midas and The Wedding Chase explore identity and connection through stories set in contemporary India.
Born in Kerala in 1990, Ashik worked as a technical editor at Tata Consultancy Services before resigning to pursue film and writing full time. He has directed over eight short films, worked as assistant director on award-winning productions, and founded Ashik Arts LLP.
He lives in Kerala and writes about it.
