Michael Coulter

Michael Coulter was born in 1968 in San Jose, California. He is the second oldest of four children and the father of twin boys. The author spent 23 years working in the health and fitness industry before earning a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California. His emphasis of study is with adolescents and young adults struggling with co-occurring disorder. Co-occurring disorder, also known as dual diagnosis, is the condition of an individual suffering from some form of mental illness in addition to comorbid substance abuse problems. He has chosen to work with this vulnerable population due to a potentially lethal transition from experimentation to addiction. His hope is that early recognition of co-occurring issues might prevent the distressing, painful condition that might ultimately consume a life. Co-occurring disorders are very misunderstood conditions that when undiagnosed can lead to a lifetime of frustration, trauma and hell. The intent of this book is to bring greater awareness to this debilitating, life-altering disorder.
