Matthew B. Fuller

Dr. Matthew Fuller is a renown consultant, speaker, and educator whose research interests focus on cultures of assessment in educational settings, legal issues, accountability, finance, and school and university safety. He is Professor of Educational Leadership and has served as Assistant Dean of Assessment and Director of the Doctoral Program in Higher Education Leadership at Sam Houston State University. He also directs the Center for Assessment, Research, and Educational Safety (CARES) which focuses on school, university, and community safety and threat assessment scholarship. Dr. Fuller is the Principal Investigator on the Survey of Assessment Culture, an international, longitudinal study of higher education faculty, administrators, and student affairs staff members' perspectives on how assessment is conducted at their institution. His work in this area has focused on providing a body of evidence examining topics around cultures of assessment. Dr. Fuller holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University. He also earned an M.S. in Educational Administration and Human Resources (focus on Student Affairs), a college teaching certificate, and a B.A. in Biology from Texas A&M University. A prolific grant writer and evaluator, Dr. Fuller supports educational institutions in developing programs to enhance student learning, success, and documenting institutional successes.
