Debbie Gonzalez

Debbie Gonzalez is an award-winning author of her debut book A Walk with Cooper. Prior to authorship, Debbie worked for 30 years in social services and school settings in NYC. She is a licensed clinical social worker, and a certified professional coach. Her love of children’s books grew as she read aloud to elementary school children. She decided to share the stories of her beloved fur baby Cooper. As the daughter of Puerto Rican parents, Debbie is cognizant of closing the gap in Latinx representation in kidlit. Her newest book, A Visit with Cooper, shows themes of bilingualism, intergenerational, and family bonding. Debbie grew up on the Lower East Side of NYC and currently lives with hubby and fur baby in North Jersey.
