Dr. Jack Stoltzfus

Dr. Jack Stoltzfus is America's Launch coach™. He helps parents launch their young adult children into self-sufficient, responsible adulthood while maintaining a caring bond with them. He brings to his writing the challenge he faced as a young adult with his father, as well as his more recent experience as a father to three adult children. He is a licensed psychologist in Minnesota who received his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Stoltzfus has worked with parents and their young adult children within the context of a chemical dependency program, an inpatient mental health facility, a child guidance clinic, a youth service agency, and a private practice for more than thirty years. He has practiced family therapy as a certified marriage and family therapist and substance abuse counseling as a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.

Dr. Jack coaches parents on facilitating the launch process of their young adults. Parents struggle with how much to help with their young adult's emotional, physical, and financial needs and when to say 'no' to such support. Current millennials and GenZs are slower to move forward with their independence than past generations. Parents can't use their own experience as a young adult as the template for what their adult children should do. There are various practices that parents need to strengthen to enable young adults to move out and on with their lives. These practices are described in his latest book, entitled The Parents Launch Code: Loving and Letting Go of Our Adult Children.
