Andrew Brown was born in Edinburgh and educated at Loretto School before reading history at Cambridge University. After a career in the food industry he turned to writing, publishing his first book, Of Peats and Putts, in 2018. Exploring the history and universal appeal of Scotland’s ‘two gifts to the world’, he plans a series of books examining how whisky and golf have expanded around the globe. His second book, Mashies and Mash Tuns, exploring England, Wales and Ireland was published in 2019 and his third, Of Peats and Putts Continental moves to the continent of Europe, starting in southern Spain and ending up in Norway inside the Arctic Circle. He then returned to Scotland with Of Peats and Putts - the back 9 before branching out again with Of Peats and Putts Down Under, an extensive trip to Australia and New Zealand where he found a burgeoning whisky industry and many spectacular golfing locations.
