Joy Lin

Joy attended the University of Texas at Austin when she was 15 and earned a B.S. in Biochemistry, a B.S. in Chemistry, and a B.A. in Biology before becoming a teacher at Austin ISD.

In 2013, she was named one of 18 most inspirational educators in the U.S. by TED. A series of six TED-Ed videos, If Superpowers Were Real, were animated from her scripts, accumulating 12 million views and counting. In 2014, she was named “Innovator of the Year” by Texas Classroom Teachers Association.

In 2015, Joy started her journey as a stand-up comedian. She has performed all over the country, including the honor of hosting a panel twice at the San Diego Comic Con.

In 2019, Joy popped out a kid and hasn’t stopped complaining since.

In 2020, her TED Talk "Using Hollywood to Get Kids Interested in Science" was uploaded onto TED. Most recently, another series of four books, Monster Science, was published in 2021.
