Hi, I’m Jackie McCarthy, a Sydney-based author of Young Adult and New Adult science fiction and fantasy.

I write about courageous but imperfect heroines, fierce friendships, found family, alien secrets and choices without easy answers. My stories often unfold in damaged worlds, but there is always room for loyalty, courage and hope.

The Hybrid Cure, the first book in The Kaseath Chronicles, received second place in the Young Adult Science Fiction category of the 2025 Incipere Awards. Its sequel, Rebel Conspiracy, takes the adventure beyond Earth, and I am currently writing Final Resistance, the trilogy’s conclusion.

Before becoming an author, I spent more than twenty years working in publishing and the media in London and Sydney. When I’m not writing, I’m usually reading, walking around Sydney or being supervised by my cat, Luna.
